| In each issue of On Course we profile the best
racing Internet sites in specific areas - here we look at eight
sites relating to bookmakers.
VICTORIAN BOOKMAKERS
ASSOCIATION
www.vicbookmakers.com.au

Recently revamped, the official VBA site features a contact
list of Victoria's bookmakers, a brief history of bookmaking,
an explanation of terminology and how to bet with bookmakers,
the On Course magazine online and a promotion providing free
entrance tickets to selected Victorian country race meetings.
In an endeavour to raise the profile of the VBA Internet
site, extensive advertising and promotion has been undertaken
– this resulting in a drastic increase in the amount
of traffic to the site. In December last year
2792 people visited vicbookmakers.com
and by March over 55,000 people had logged on. Figures each
month since have steadied between 21,000 and 39,000.
