Uncle was a bookmaker, "I started working for him when I was in short pants!" First clerked for him at a Kerang meeting shortly after WW2.

Working at Flemington during Cup week over the last three years - "I always wanted to do
that before retiring."

Benalla and on the picnic circuit Woolamai, Healesville and Yea - "very picturesque courses."

"No doubt - Cup week."

"I doubt that there has been a better horse than Tulloch."

natural progression."

Working at Gippsland's feature meetings and fielding at the greyhound meetings in town.

Sale - "there are not too many better,
it is a brilliant track."

Australia Cup night.

Locally, Luther's Luck and Between Ourselves.

Darren Gauci and Peter Mertens who served his apprenticeship in the Gippsland area.

Again locally, Ron Crawford and Barry Bennett.

HOBBIES:
The occasional round of golf plus training and breeding greyhounds with "a fair bit of success
over the years."

MOST ENJOYABLE ASPECTS OF
BOOKMAKING:

The atmosphere when there are plenty of bookmakers and big crowds in attendance.

LEAST ENJOYABLE ASPECTS OF
BOOKMAKING:

When the crowds aren't there - "it feels lonely!"
