on Friday September 5 recognised the contribution that country
racing and its people and horses make to our great sport.
Attended by members of the Victorian Bookmakers Association,
the function saw the presentation of number of well deserved
awards. |
MOST INNOVATIVE MARKETING STRATEGY
The Edenhope Racing Club took out the Most Innovative Marketing
Strategy award for its campaign titled "Fang it to the
Edenhope Cup."
MOST IMPROVED SERVICE
The progressive Seymour Racing Club received this prize.
COUNTRY RACEHORSE OF THE YEAR
Before her 1.3 length victory in the Melbourne Cup, classy
mare Makybe Diva was named the Country Racehorse of the Year. |
A sixth successive win was recorded in the
Group 2 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Flemington in November.
Congratulations to Makybe Diva's owners, the Emily Krstina
(Aust) Pty Ltd Syndicate (manager Tony Santic).
The other finalists for the Country Racehorse of the Year
Award were Gunnamatta (Warrnambool Cup, Mornington Cup) and
Mooball (Wangaratta Cup, Wodonga Cup).

COUNTRY CLUB OF THE YEAR
The Mornington Racing Club was named the Victorian Country Racing
Club of the Year, the club's President Frank Sedgman presented
with a cheque for $10,000 by The Hon. John Pandazopoulos, Minister
For Racing. |
Trained by David Hall, the English bred daughter of the Danehill
stallion Desert King won her maiden at Wangaratta on August
13, following up that success with victories at Sale, Ballarat
and Flemington before taking out the Werribee Cup. |
